Burnham Week was a great success this year and thanks to the crew who did an outstanding job.

On the first Saturday The Houghton Cup was a 55 mile race round the Barrow Sands which we won in Amazon for the first time, by eight minutes on Oystercatcher XXVI. What a great way to start the week but it just got better and better.

Amazon then won the Bank Holiday weekend in Class 2, the long week in Class 2 and were runners up for the midweek series to Scaramouche III, a First 31.7. Scaramouche was faster than us in over 20 knots and there was plenty of that, with Thursday’s racing cancelled due to over 50 knots, but Amazon was quicker in under 20 knots. In the final Saturday’s race Amazon won the Commodores Cup after a great race with Scaramouche beating them when the wind got lighter and the tide turned foul near the finish. Amazon also won the Premium liferaft bell (and a bottle of whisky) for the best performance in IRC for the week – all classes.

Still waiting to hear who is joining us on what days, but I know that I will be on everyday along with Tony and Chuffy and Wils will be on a few days as well.

Looks like Friday I have a few quick jobs to do on the boat, some winch monkey stuff, so Friday I will be up to my elbow in grease! Lovely!

More update during the week on how our races have been.

Here is to a good week on the water!

Just got back from the Ramsgate SailEAST. Different format than usual rather than 2 races on Saturday and 1 on Sunday, all 3 races were on Saturday.

We had a great day on the water, with only one of two incidents (managed to do some trawling with the kite – didn’t catch any fish though!), great weather – nice and sunny with about 17knots of breeze all day.

Crew consisted of Ton and Chuffy, Dave Mallet, Me, Ian, Catherine and our local knowledge Janey Mann.

Left the boat early this morning for a quick trip back to Burnham via car while Tony and Catherine sailed Amazon back to Burnham.

Next race on the calendar is Burnham Week.
